Music

Do you remember when we learnt about rhythm and pulse? Today we will learn about melody and pitch. Watch this clip and explore melody and pitch with Bob Marley.

The melody of a song is the tune. It’s part of the music you often find yourself singing along with. Pitch is how high or low a note sounds. A melody is made up of high and low pitched notes played one after the other. Catchy melodies often repeat the same series of notes over and over.

To learn more about pitch, watch YolanDa Brown and her band demonstrate how high and low music can be played.

Then, click on the interactive game to check your knowledge!

Now it’s your turn to sing! Go through the 3 Practise activities on BBC bitesize:

Activity one: warm up

Activity two: Sing along to Somewhere Only We know (click here for the lyrics)

Activity three: Try out a creative Ten Pieces activity at home
