Previous Years Work
2021-22
Water Wonders
Last week, our topic was 'Water Wonders'. We learnt about different creatures that live in water such as frogs and fish that we can keep as pets. We also learnt about bigger creatures that live in the sea, including wales, dolphins, sea horses, sharks and stingrays. We learnt some amazing facts, that an octopus has 3 hearts and blue blood! We read lots of books about sea creatures, wrote sentences from the story 'Rainbow Fish' and created beautiful artwork using a variety of materials.
Fur and Feathers
Patterns in Maths
In maths we have been creating patterns using colours, shapes, actions and sounds.
Country Farms
This week we have been learning about the farm. We have been learning about animals and their young; jobs that are done on the farm and produce that comes from the farm such as eggs, milk and vegetables.
Easter
This week our topic has been 'Easter'. We read the Easter Story and looked at different videos to help us understand what happened. We have had lots of discussions about how and why we celebrate Easter! We wrote a sentence about Easter, created Easter cards for our families and made our own Easter baskets. We have had so much fun!
CPR
Today, we learnt to do chest compressions to the song 'Baby Shark'!
Brilliant Bugs
Last week, our topic was 'Brilliant Bugs'. Reception went on a bug hunt around the school grounds and into the science garden and found lots of insects and minibeasts. We watched lots of videos and discussed what they looked like and how they moved. We created lots of art pictures using a variety of materials and explored minibeasts during discovery time.
International Women's Day 2022
To celebrate International Women's Day this year, Reception did lots of activities about Emmeline Pankhurst. Have a look at what we got up to below!
Science Week 2022 - Ready, Steady, Grow!
We have been drawing and labelling the different parts of a plant and we even went into the Reception garden and planted our own Sunflower seeds that we will take home at Easter to look after. We looked at and talked about what a seed needs in order to help it grow (soil, water, sunlight) and have been watering our seeds every day! We can't wait to find out the winner of our competition - which child's flower has grown the tallest?
