In Year 1, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum to prepare our children for a life in modern Britain.
Children in Need
To support Children in Need, the children came to school dressed in their own clothes, Children in Need outfits and lots of bright, fun odd socks. Everyone looked fantastic, and we had a wonderful day raising awareness and celebrating this important cause.
Remembrance Day
In recognition of Remembrance Day, we learned about its significance, created handmade poppy flowers, produced artwork inspired by the poppy fields and reflected on the concept of peace, writing about what it means to us personally.
Bonfire Night
For Bonfire Night, Year 1 had their very own classroom bonfire experience. We sat around our 'bonfire,' watched fireworks on the screen and made our own breadstick sparklers. We had lots of fun! Afterwards, we wrote a recount of everything we had done.
Stay and Learn
We loved welcoming our parents into Year 1 for our Reading-themed Stay and Learn session. Families joined us in the classroom to share stories, explore books together, and take part in a range of fun reading activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading and to learn alongside one another.
