Writing

Monday

Watch 'Snail and the Whale' on BBC iPlayer - https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000cslw/the-snail-and-the-whale

Last week we looked at expanded noun phrases and how to write sentences using them. Remember an expanded noun phrase is when we use 2 adjectives before a noun using a comma to separate them. For example 'The tiny, brown snail.'

Look at the WAGOLL. Do you think this is a good example? Can you make it better? Discuss with a grow up how it could be better and write some of sentences using your improvements.

Tuesday

Today we would like you to have a go at writing 'The Snail and the Whale'. You can check your work with an adult.

Remember to use:

  • Capital letters
  • Full stops
  • Adjectives
  • Expanded noun phrases
  • Conjunctions
  • Fronted adverbials

Wednesday

Read through the writing you did yesterday with a grown-up and look to see if you could up level it. Have you missed anything out? Have you made any mistakes? Write some sentences out again that you need to improve.

Thursday

Independent Writing

Today we would like you to write 'The Snail and the Whale' on your own. This means a grown-up cannot help you. Once you have written the story they can look through your work, check it and see all the great things you have written!
