Follow the lesson on the White Rose link above titled 'Recognising coins and notes' to prepare you for next week's lessons on money.

Watch 'Snail and the Whale' on BBC iPlayer -

Last week we looked at expanded noun phrases and how to write sentences using them. Remember an expanded noun phrase is when we use 2 adjectives before a noun using a comma to separate them. For example 'The tiny, brown snail.'

Look at the WAGOLL. Do you think this is a good example? Can you make it better? Discuss with a grow up how it could be better and write some of sentences using your improvements.

Today we would like you to have a go at writing 'The Snail and the Whale'. You can check your work with an adult.

Remember to use:

  • Capital letters
  • Full stops
  • Adjectives
  • Expanded noun phrases
  • Conjunctions
  • Fronted adverbials

Read through the writing you did yesterday with a grown-up and look to see if you could up level it. Have you missed anything out? Have you made any mistakes? Write some sentences out again that you need to improve.

Independent Writing

Today we would like you to write 'The Snail and the Whale' on your own. This means a grown-up cannot help you. Once you have written the story they can look through your work, check it and see all the great things you have written!

Handwriting practise

Today we would love you to practise your pre-cursive letters.

Follow the videos on YouTube to see how you should be forming your letters and practise each one. Then keep practising any that you find tricky. Try and write your name or some words using pre-cursive handwriting.

The Lost Sheep

The second is 'The Prophet and the Ant'. This is a story from the Quran.

The Prophet and the Ant

In religious books like the Bible and the Quran the stories always try to teach us something. What do you think these stories are teaching us? discuss them with a grown-up.

In our music lesson we have been learning a lot about Rhythm. Watch this bitesize lesson about rhythm and discuss it with a grown-up.

Now listen to some music and see if you can find the rhythm using body percussion.

Last week we started to research the artist Alexander Carter. Now we would like you to design your own mobile. Think about the things you would want to hang on your mobile. Think carefully about the colours you use as Carter does.

In Science this half term we have been looking at life cycles. A good example of a life cycle is a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

Start the lesson today by watching the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'

Now complete the Cosmic Kids yoga of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'
