Reading:

Today we would like you to listen to David Walliams reading one of his books. Once you have listened to it, draw a picture of one of the main characters. Use the information you have heard and your imagination to think about what they could look like.

Writing:

On Fridays at school, we always do our 'Composition'. This is where the children write independently based on what we have been doing that week. This week we asked you to go on an adventure with a grown up and write about it.

 

Today, we would like you to write a recount of your adventure. Use your story S plan to help you put the main events in the correct order. 

Remember to;

• use capital letters and full stops
• use finger spaces
• use cursive handwriting
• include conjunctions to extend your sentences
• use adjectives to make it interesting

Maths:

Art:

Let's get creative! Today we would like you to try some shadow sketching. Go and find 4 or 5 of your favourite toys and stand them at the edge of some plain paper (or use the plain pages in your workbook we sent home). You might want to do this near a window so it is light, if it isn't a sunny day use a lamp to make the shadow. If it is a really nice day you could do this activity outside in your garden. When you're all set up you should be able to see the shadows that your toys have made. Draw around the shadows of your toys and then colour them in.

Reading:

Today we would like you to read a section of a brand new story called 'A Fox Called Herbert'. Try to read it on your own but if you are finding it too tricky, ask your grown up to help you. Remember to sound out any unknown words. When you have read it, we would like you to email us to tell us how many stars you would give it (out of 5), whether you enjoyed it and why you liked it or didn't like it.

Talk through the plan that you did on Tuesday with your grown up. Can you recount your adventure? Make sure you include all the things that you could see, hear, smell and feel on your adventure to make it more exciting! 

 

Maths: 

Warm up your Maths brain by dancing along with Bridget the Lioness and practise your 2 times tables!

For Computing today, we would like to remind you about being safe online. Reading:

Choose one of your own books to read. Before reading the story, look at the picture on the front and think about what it tells you about the story. Read the story, either on your own or with your grown up, and answer these questions. 

1. Who is the main character?
2. What happens in the story?
3. How do the characters feel?
4. Did you enjoy reading the book?

We are really looking forward to hearing all about the adventure that you went on!

For writing today, we want you to draw your favourite part of your adventure. When you have done your drawing, write some sentences underneath it to explain why it was your favourite part of your adventure. 

 

Maths:

 

To start with today, we would like you to practise finding your number bonds to 10 and 20. Remember the rule!

Geography: 

Today, we would like you to take your home learning book into your back garden. What can you see when you look around? Draw pictures of the different things that you can see in your garden. When you have finished, label your drawings. Once you have labelled your drawings, write two sentences. One sentence should be what you like about what you can see, the other should be what you dislike.

How was your adventure yesterday? Where did you go? 

Today we would like you to have a go at drawing a story S plan of your adventure. To do this, draw a capital S in the centre of a piece of paper. Starting from the top of your S recount all the things you did on your adventure. You could draw pictures and write words to show this. Remember to put the events in the correct order! Look at the example picture plan below to help you.

As part of your writing this week, we would like you to go for a short walk with your grown up near your house. This will be your own adventure so think about what you might need to take with you. Whilst you are on your walk, pay attention to all the things you can see, smell, hear and even feel.

For our final history lesson on adventurers and explorers, we would like you to think about everything that you know and that you have learnt about Amelia Earhart. Tell your grown up the most interesting fact that you know about her. It might be that she was the first woman to break the altitude record by flying 14,000 ft or it might be that her first plane was yellow so she named it 'The Canary'. 

 

When you have told your grown up the most interesting fact that you know, we would like you to design a medal that people could wear to remember her by. Draw this in your home learning book. Think about everything that she did to help you think of a design.
