This week our stars of the week are Temi and Fenton.

Temi has tried really hard with all the challenges we have set and she has done some super home learning! Keep up the hard work Temi!

Fenton has been working really hard on all of his home learning, but we have loved seeing his amazing writing! Well done Fenton!

 

Well done to all the children who have been completing their home learning activities and sending their work to us, we love seeing it. Keep working hard next week and you could be our next stars! We are also sending notes home to children who are trying their best.

Travellers' Times Big Creative Writing & Poetry Competition ...

Today is 'Big Write' day! Try and do your writing today independently. This week, we have looked at 'Grandpa's Garden' and thought about the garden at different times of the year and how our own imaginary garden might look. Today, we want you to write a description about your imaginary garden. Look at the WAGOLL below if you are stuck. 

Think about: 

  • What plants would grow in your garden?
  • What else would you have in your garden? 
  • What would you need to do to your garden to make sure it stays healthy?
  • How would you look after your garden?

Design and draw your own imaginary garden. When you have finished drawing your garden, write lots of adjectives to describe it. Think about what you know about plants and seasons from 'Grandpa's Garden' to help you. What would grow in your garden? What else would be in your garden? Starter - Listen to the 'Count to 100' song. Join in with the counting and exercising! 

Challenge: Count backwards from 100 to 0.

Main Activity - Go to BBC Bitesize to access the work. Click on Maths and watch the video before completing the task. 

 

Geography & Art: 

This week in Science and Geography, we have been looking at trees. Today, we would like you to do some tree rubbing to see if all trees have the same bark. Find 2 trees near your house and take a piece of paper and a two brightly coloured pencils or crayons with you. Place the paper over the tree bark and rub your crayon over the paper to see the pattern of the bark. Once you have done this to each tree, have a look to see if you can see a difference. Do all trees have the same bark?

What do you need to do to look after your garden? Write some sentences to explain how to properly look after your garden to make sure it looks beautiful all year round.

Tell your grown up what happened in the story 'Grandpa's Garden'– watch the video again if you need help to remember it.

Think about what you will see in the gardens during each season. Write a list of things that you see in the story. Once you have written your list, put the words into sentences to describe the garden. Remember to include adjectives to make it more exciting.

 

Maths:

Starter - Log on to Education City and complete the number bonds to 10 activity. 

Main activity - Go onto White Rose Home Learning and complete Summer Term - Week 4 - Lesson 2 - Subtract within 20.

These are your sounds of the week. Today, we would like you to practise saying your sound of the week. Once you have done that, we want you practise writing your sound of the week. Use your magic pen to draw the sound in the air before you pracitse writing it in your home learning book. Think of 3 words with your sound in and write them down. 

 

Writing:

You have all done some fantastic writing around 'Jack and the Beanstalk' and this week we are going to look at a new story to help with our writing. Today, we want you to listen to the story 'Grandpa's Garden'. Make sure you pay attention to his garden throughout the different seasons! 

Once you have listened to the story, split your page into four boxes. In each box, we would like you to draw Grandpa's garden in the different seasons and write a sentence about what is happening.

What you can see.

Do the plants grow all year around?

Is the garden colourful?

For Computing today, we would like you to focus on typing and finding letters on your keyboard. Log on to Purplemash (please refer to log in sheet or email us for passwords) and have a go at the 'Falling Letters' game that has been set for you.

TIP: It is easier to type when you use both hands!
