Today, we are going to re-cap our learning about imperative verbs and use them to write a set of instructions. We have done this at school and for our home learning so you should be amazing at this by now!

Challenge yourself by trying to include different fronted adverbials and subordinate clauses to up-level your sentences and make them even better!

  • Look at the picture. What does it make you think about? Where do you think it is? Who do you think lives there? Jot your initial ideas down in your home learning book (they might help you to answer the questions later.)
  • Read the comprehension questions and discuss your answers with an adult if you can.
  • Write your answers on the sheet or in your home learning book.

Today, you are going to apply all of the skills that you have learnt this week and write your very own newspaper reports. Remember to think carefully about reported speech and direct speech and what features you should include to make your newspaper report amazing!

Head over to spelling frame today and practise Spelling Rule 54. Today you need to practise the beginning spelling words from Years 5 and 6. Today’s words range from -aw to -cont.



Today we are going to begin our entries for the Art Competition! Each week there will be a new theme and there will be a prize for the best entry from KS2. Everyone who enters their artwork will receive a certificate!

This week’s theme is The Natural World.

It’s your turn to create some amazing artwork and interact with our natural world.

You can choose from the following four activities:

  3. Bug Hotels
  4. Wind Whirlers

In reading and writing this week we are going to focus on newspaper reports. We have looked at this genre in our writing at school so you should be familiar with their layout and the key features included within a newspaper report already.
