Manchester is on its journey to becoming an internationally recognised Child Friendly City. A Child Friendly City is one that recognises and celebrates Children’s Rights. Many of our schools are Rights respecting schools, so will be familiar with the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.

This year on National Play Day (Wednesday 7th August) as a city we will celebrate Children’s Right to Play (Article 31) bigger and better than ever before. We have called on all partners and sectors to provide even more play opportunities for Children and Young People. There will be over 100 different events and activities taking place across the city, at Parks, Libraries, Galleries, Museums , in Neighbourhoods and at holiday playschemes.

National play day is a celebration of children's right to play and the vital benefits of play on children's health, happiness and creativity.

All throughout the summer there will also be a range of free activities for children and young people to access, which can also be found on the Loads to Do website: https://loadstodo.co.uk
