Read this extract from ‘The Other World’ and continue the story describing the place, who they meet and finally how they get back. First, use the planning sheet to organise your ideas. Then, write the end of the story. Make sure you include some of the skills we have learnt in school and some exciting vocab too!

Read chapter 3 of 'The Dentist of Darkness' and answer the following questions:

  1. Where did Garstigan live?
  2. Was Archie excited about the party? Explain your answer using evidence.
  3. What did Mr Preen want to rid the world of?
  4. Why did Archie walk to the door quickly after meeting Mr Preen?
  5. Can you predict what might happen next in the story?

Activity 1:

Watch Episode 1: “Block Him Right Good, Alfie!” with your adult and discuss the following questions together. 

  1. What did you think? What did you like about Play Like Share?
  2. What different things do Sam, Ellie and Alfie do online?
  3. What problem did Alfie face at the beginning of the cartoon?
  4. How did the gamer make Alfie feel?
  5. What did Alfie do when he realised something wasn’t right?
  6. What happened when Selfie’s video was made public? How did it make them feel?

 

Activity 2:

Design a poster for Sam, Ellie and Alfie’s new band selfie. Come up with a design that shows off each character’s talents and personality!

 

Activity 3:

Play this game about internet safety! 

 

Now that we are all working from home, we spend more time than usual using technologies. Please read the following key e-safety principles and make sure you are being safe online!

 

- Always tell an adult if something worries or upsets you online

- Ask an adult if you are unsure about the content of a webpage

- Only access webpages you have been instructed to access

- Never share personal information (passwords, name, age, school, photographs)

- Use safe searches e.g Kiddle

- Always be kind to others online - think about the effect that your words could have on somebody reading them

- Remember to take a break from screen time!
