Miss Walker's and Miss Howes' Groups: This week we have been looking at the story Stellaluna. Watch the video of the story again and then answer these questions in your home learning book:

  1. How do you think Mother Bat felt as Stellaluna fell to the ground?
  2. How do you think Stellaluna felt as she hung from the branch?
  3. Why do you think Stellaluna 'quickly clambered' from the birds nest? What might she think will happen?
  4. What was the one thing Stellaluna carried on doing even after she became more like a bird?
  5. What did Stellaluna hang from instead of her feet? Why did she do that?
  6. How did Mother Bat realise that this bat was a her baby Stellaluna?

Miss Rowland's Group:  Log in to Oxford Owl and find the story ‘East of the Sun, West of the Moon’. Today you are going to read it stopping at the end of each chapter.

At the end of each chapter, write a sentence about what has happened in your home learning book. There are 8 Chapters so you should have 8 sentences written by the end of the book.

Challenge: Retell the story using the picture cues on the back page to an adult in your house.

Miss Upton's, Mrs Hussain's and Miss Potter's Groups: Today we would like you to listen to the poem 'Lizzie's Lion'. You can read along if you want to!

Did you enjoy listening to the poem?

Could you hear any rhyming words? Write them down if you did.

Maths

Miss Rowland's and Miss Higgins' Groups: Click on the link to open your worksheet. Today's worksheet includes word problems using fractions. Complete these in your home learning book using sharing circles to show your working out.

Challenge: Can you write 3 of your own fraction word problems? Give them to your grown up and see if they get them right!

Now have a go at this fractions game called Falling Numbers

Miss Howes' and Miss Walker's Groups: Click on the link and watch the video about ordering numbers. When we have looked at ordering numbers in school, we have talked about greater than (>) and less than (<). Think back to the crocodile's mouth we used to help us!

  • clambered

Tomorrow we will have another look at the story and answer some questions about it.

Miss Rowland's Group: Log in to Oxford Owl (find the login details in your home learning book).  Find the book ‘Minibeast Poems’. Your task today is to read the poems and answer these questions in your home learning book:

  1. Which poem is your favourite? Why?
  2. Which poem did you not enjoy? Why?

Miss Upton's, Mrs Hussain's and Miss Potter's Groups: What is your favourite book? Today we would like you to read your favourite book that you have at home to a grown up. After you have read it, tell them what your favourite part was and why? Once you have told your grown up your favourite part we would like you to redesign the front cover of the book. • conjunctions

Now complete the 'Question time' activities in your home learning book.

Maths

Miss Rowland's and Miss Higgins' Groups: After finding fractions of shapes, today we are moving onto finding fractions
of numbers. If you are finding ½ of a number, you need 2 sharing circles as the denominator is 2 and
then share out the number.

If you are finding ¼ of a number, how many sharing circles will you need? What is the denominator of ¼? Yes, that’s right 4 sharing circles! You then count 1 of the circles to find out your answer. Follow the link and watch the video for more help.
Now complete this worksheet remembering to either draw 2 or 4 sharing circles depending on if it is asking for ½ or ¼ of a number.

Miss Howes' and Miss Walker's Groups: Follow the link and click on 'Summer Term - Week 2'. Watch the video 'Lesson 3 - Find a quarter (2)'. Now complete this activity.
