Reading
Miss Walker's and Miss Howes' Group: Today, we would like you to choose a book to read. Log on to Oxford Owl and choose one from there or choose a book you have at home. Tell your grown up why you have chosen this book and what you think this book is going to be about. If you have read this book before, tell your grown up why you want to read it again.
Remember to;

  • look out for punctuation and think about how this should change your voice
  • add expression for different characters and different types of sentences

Miss Rowland's Group: Read through this Footballer Fact File - this week it is Lionel Messi. After reading the fact file, answer the questions about Messi in your home learning book. Don’t forget to go back to the fact file to find your answers.

Miss Upton's, Mrs Hussain's and Miss Potter's Groups: We hope you have enjoyed the Julia Donaldson books so far this week. Which one has been your favourite? Today we would like you to listen to 'The Gruffalo's Child'. Remember, if you have that book at home, have a go at reading it to a grown up.

The Gruffalo's Child (film) - Wikipedia

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b018nrhm/the-gruffalos-child

Once you have listened to or read the story, have a go at creating your own book review. Think about the following questions:

  • In your own words, what was the book about?
  • Who is the main character? What is he/she like?
  • Did you like the book? Why?
  • Would you tell other people to read it?

Miss Rowland's and Miss Higgins' Group: Today we are going to continue with the addition and subtraction column methods on this worksheet. Today we are putting them into word problems. They are all mixed up so you need to read them really carefully to first of all work out if they are addition or subtraction questions. Look for the key words that tell you it is either addition (more, altogether, in all) or subtraction (less than, take away, have left). Then use your column methods to work them out.

When you have finished, click the link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/games/embed/guardians-mathematica and play the game - make sure you have a pencil and paper nearby to help when the questions get harder!

Topic

Today in topic we are going to be doing some Design and Technology. Look at a car that you can see out of your window or one that you see on your daily walk. If your parents have a car you could have a look at that.

Draw a picture of the car and list its main features using this checklist:

  • colour, size and shape of the main body of the car
  • wheels, tyres and doors
  • headlights, bumpers, number plate and mirrors
Now look at another car. What is different about it? What is the same?
