Start your day off with some P.E. with Joe Wicks! Follow the link and get active.

 

Reading

Miss Walker's and Miss Howes' Groups: Log on to Oxford Owl and choose a book from the 'Age 6-7' section. Complete Activities 1 and 2 which you will find at the top of the page. 

Miss Rowland’s Group: Find the book ‘What’s That Noise?’ on Oxford Reading Owl. Read the key words, common exception words and challenge words on the inside cover. Read the story and talk about the different noises mentioned in the book to an adult in your house. Write 4 sentences and draw a picture about one of the noises mentioned in the book.

 

Miss Upton's, Mrs Hussain's and Miss Potter's Groups: Log on to Education City (your username and password will be in your home learning book). Click on Subject - English - Year 1 - Letters and Sounds. Choose two activities from the 'Phase 3' area to complete.

Challenge: Now try a 'Phase 4' activity.

 

Writing

Follow this link and watch the clip. Imagine that you are Secret Agent Walter Beckett. Write what has happened with the pigeons. Make sure you include:

  • Conjunctions
  • Subordinate clauses
  • A question sentence
  • An exclamation sentence 

Challenge: Can you add a simile too?

 

Maths

Miss Howes’ and Miss Walker’s Groups: Recap all of the bonds to 10. Your first one is 1 + 9 = 10. Now write the others in your home learning book.

In your home learning book, write down a list of all the materials you can spot in the clip. What could those materials be made into? What would they be best for? Are they strong? Bendy? Soft? Hard? Look after your mind with a relaxing meditation with Jamie. Find somewhere comfortable and follow the link to get started.

 

Reading

Miss Walker's and Miss Howes' Groups: Log on to Oxford Owl and choose a book from the 'Age 6-7' section. In your home learning book answer these questions:

  • Why have you chosen this book?
  • What type of book is it? Fiction? Non-fiction? Happy? Sad? Serious? Funny?
  • Who do you think the main characters are going to be?
  • What do you think might happen in the story?

Now read your story.

Challenge: Read your story again but this time think about the expression in your voice.

 

Miss Rowland's Group: Log on to Oxford Owl and find the book ‘Wild Weather’. Before reading the story, read the inside cover and answer the prediction questions. After reading the book, write a sentence with each of the glossary words in. 

 

Miss Upton's, Mrs Hussain's and Miss Potter's Groups: Log on to Oxford Owl and choose a book to read with your grown up. Now answer these questions out loud to your grown up:

  • Where is it set?
  • Who are the main characters?
  • What happened in the story? 
  • What was your favourite part?

 

Writing

Follow the link. Think of words and phrases to describe what you can see. Complete the 'Sick Sentences!' activity and see if you can turn them in to super sentences in your home learning book. Think about:

  • Conjunctions
  • Expanded noun phrases

In PSHE, we have been looking closely at what our strengths are. What is a strength? What are your strengths? Draw a picture of yourself and label yourself with at least 5 strengths that you have in your home learning book.

Miss Rowland’s Group: Log in to Oxford Owl and find the book ‘When Animals Invade’ to read. Make sure you read all the common exception words and challenge words on the inside page before reading the book. When you have finished reading the book, answer the three questions on the last page and write your answers in your home learning book.

Book of the Day

Log onto ‘Oxford Reading Owl’ (find your user and password in your home learning book).

Find the ‘Happy Birthday Winnie’ book and read it with your grown up. Make a birthday party invitation in your home learning book to Winnie’s birthday party. Where is it taking place? When is it happening? Do you want your guests to bring anything to the party?

 

Phonics Task  

Log onto Education City using your Purple Mash password. Click on: Subject- English- Year 1- Letters and Sounds.

Miss Howes’ Phonics Group - Recap any of the phase 4 and 5 clips and complete the activities. Complete 2 sounds today please.

Miss Rowland’s Phonics Group- click on 'Spot the Frog' phase 4 sounds. Play the clip and complete the activities.

Miss Stephenson’s Phonics Group- click on 'Soil Spoil' ‘oi’ sound. Play the clip and complete the activities.

Maths Task

Miss Howes' Maths Group

Go around your house picking up 6 different objects (with your adult’s help). Put them in order of tallest to shortest, heaviest to lightest. Do this 3 times with different items.

Miss Higgins’ Maths Group:

Look at different coins with your grown up that they have in their purse or wallet and discuss their values.

Have a look at the clock in your house. What time does it say? Complete a time table of your day including times for when you got up, when you had breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as any other activities you did throughout the day.

Book of the Day

Log onto ‘Oxford Reading Owl’ (find your user name and password in your home learning book).

Find ‘The Magic Paintbrush’ book. Read it with your grown up and complete ‘Play Activity 1 and 2’ located above the book on the website.

 

Literacy Task

Write a book review on ‘The Magic Paintbrush’.

Then write the story in your own words and answer these questions about the story:

  • Did you enjoy it? Why?
  • What was your favourite part? Why?
  • Who was your favourite character? Why?
  • Would you recommend this book to another child? Who and why?
