Reading:

We hope you have enjoyed the Julia Donaldson books so far this week. Which one has been your favourite? Today we would like you to listen to 'The Gruffalo's Child'. Remember, if you have that book at home, have a go at reading it to a grown up.

The Gruffalo's Child (film) - Wikipedia

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b018nrhm/the-gruffalos-child

Once you have listened to or read the story, have a go at creating your own book review. Think about the following questions:

  • In your own words, what was the book about?
  • Who is the main character? What is he/she like?
  • Did you like the book? Why?
  • Would you tell other people to read it?

Phonics:

Mrs Shanley Mrs Hussain Miss Potter Miss Upton

or

'Corn for the horse'

igh

'Bright lights'

ea

Today we would like you to start off by writing a list of as many words with the sound you have been practising as possible. You could even have a competition with your grown up to see who can get the most!

Once you have written a list of words with your sound. Log onto Education City and complete the activity with your sound. If you are in Mrs Shanley's or Mrs Hussain's group select the 'phonics screening check' activity and choose the sound you have been practising.

Challenge: Write a silly sentence with a word from your list in it.

 Writing:

This week you have been having a go at coming up with adjectives to describe flowers and even trying to write some exclamation sentences. We have been asking you to do this, so you can have a go at writing your own poem about plants or flowers on Friday. Start off your writing today by reading the WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) poem below.

Colourful Flowers

Colourful flowers stand straight and tall.

Colourful flowers smell like sweet, juicy strawberries.

Colourful flowers attract buzzy bees.

Colourful flowers make me feel happy and cheerful.

I love colourful flowers!

Now it is your turn to write some sentences to answer the following questions about flowers. Use your senses to help you. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, conjunctions and adjectives!

  • What do they smell like?
  • What do they feel like?
  • What do they look like?
  • What might you hear near flowers in the garden?

Maths:
