Maths:

In Maths you need to practise the place value of numbers up to 50. Below are a list of activities you can complete.

  • Count forwards and backwards to 50 (use the interactive 100 square to help https://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/paint-the-squares).
  • Use objects around the house to make different numbers e.g. 'Find 15 objects.' Get your child to count out 15 pieces of pasta or 15 pieces of lego.
  • Log onto MyMaths and complete the activities you have been set

https://login.mymaths.co.uk/  (Refer to the login sheet letter sent home).

Writing:

This week in writing we are focusing on 'The Big Adventure'. Today, we would like you to read through the story on the powerpoint and think about where you would like to go on an adventure. This might be to the beach, the jungle or a forest. When you have decided where you would go, we would like you to write some sentences. Think about what you can see and hear and try to use adjectives and conjunctions in your writing. E.g. 'I would like to go on an adventure to the calm beach because I love playing in the sparkly sea.'

Mindfulness/Relaxation:

Today either choose a video from Cosmic Kids or try out the Mindfulness Posing game!

Mindful Posing

One easy way for children to dip their toes into mindfulness is through body poses. To get your children excited, tell them that doing fun poses can help them feel strong, brave and happy.

Ask the children to go somewhere quiet and familiar, a place they feel safe. Next tell them to try one of the following poses:

  1. The Superman: this pose is practised by standing with the feet just wider than the hips, fists clenched and arms reached out to the sky, stretching the body as tall as possible.
  2. The Wonder Woman: this pose is struck by standing tall with legs wider than hip-width apart and hands or fists placed on the hips.

Ask the children how they feel after a few rounds of trying either of these poses. You may be surprised.
