Reading at Moston Lane

 

At Moston Lane, we adopt a collaborative approach to the teaching of reading and our reading curriculum is based on the 'Success for All' programme. This acts as our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 reading scheme, and also includes a structured phonics session which is taught for 20 minutes each day.

Children work in learning teams and partnerships and there is strong emphasis placed on talk for learning and discussion.

We also award children with 'Reader of the Week' in our celebration assembly every Friday!

Here you can find the 'Age Related Expectations' for each year group (Year 1 - Year 6), which outlines what a child should be able to do by the end of their time in each class. Children will be assessed against these expectations to see what they have achieved, and what they need to work on next.
