Religious Education

At Moston Lane, we learn R.E through the new Manchester Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education that was introduced this academic year (2016). It is taught through key questions rather than religions, giving the opportunity to learn many religions at once but also through different topics and other subjects.

We also celebrate R.E. as a whole school, through celebration assemblies, fundraising competitions, plays and performances. We are also very fortunate as we are always looking for visitors to come into the school to talk and work with the children but also to go on R.E trips to different religious buildings too!

Here is the "R.E Curriculum Map", which outlines the key questions that are covered and taught throughout the year.

Harvest

For Harvest, Moston Lane worked with a local Manchester charity, Woodstreet Mission, to provide donations to their harvest appeal. Each class were given a box to use as a collection for their tinned food, as a mini competition to help provide food for local families who struggle, particularly during the school holidays. Well done to all the classes that brought food in for Woodstreet!

We were also lucky enough to be visited by David Saville, the vicar from Chadderton Community Church, who came in to talk to us about the importance of Harvest. He highlighted the importance of being thankful for what we have through a fun and exciting game-based assembly. Thank you, David!

Fundraising

As part of Nursery and Reception’s fundraising during the Autumn term, the children decided to participate in Harvest related activities! The children made and sold chocolate apples for £1 to raise money for their year group. The yummy chocolate apples were made and decorated by the children - they looked fab!
