Extra Curricular

The link below gives information about what extra curricular activities are available to children at Moston Lane. Our children get up to some really fun activities after school! The children will be notified about having a place in the club before it starts. Children must be collected at 4pm prompt from the designated pick up point.

Click below to see our 'Out of Hours Learning' overview, which shows clubs that are available to different year groups throughout the year.

Out of Hours Learning Overview

Year 6 Boosters

Year 6 Boosters are held every morning from 8am until 8.55am (Monday to Friday) and every evening after school (except Friday) from 3pm until 4pm. In the morning, children are offered toast, a range of cereal and a drink before going into the ICT suite to work on Accelerated Maths. This extra Maths work helps to prepare the children for the school day and has proven to help raise the children's attainment.

As a reward for completing extra hours of learning, the  children receive a silver star for each hour of learning that they complete. The stars can then be traded in for a variety of rewards and treats.

KS2 Breakfast Club

Years 4- 6 can attend breakfast club for free every school day.  The children can have a nutritious breakfast to set them up for the school day before engaging in the Accelerated Maths computer programme (Year 6) or engage in Maths activities such as board games (Years 4 & 5). These morning booster sessions have had a huge impact on the children’s learning over the last few years, with Year 6 children regularly attending, showing a significant increase in performance in maths scores.

Choir

Choir meet on Tuesday after school with Mrs Kidd (Autumn and Summer term). We sing lots of different types of music and perform at school concerts. We really enjoyed singing at our ‘Carols by Candlelight’ service to the children and parents in our school!

Art & History Club

Art and History Club meet every Monday with Mrs Hussain (Autumn term). We have learnt lots of interesting things about the history of our country and have consolidated our learning with art. We really enjoyed making Remembrance Day poppies for our school display. Come and see our work in the KS2 hall.

Gardening Club

Gardening club with Mrs Jones and Mrs Lee meet on a Wednesday throughout the year. We have been tidying up our Science Garden by weeding the raised beds, planting seeds and taking care of them so they grow. Each one of us has kept a diary to record our progress. Keep checking our website for pictures of the finished garden!

Change for Life

Change for Life Club meet with Mr Thompson and Miss Toland on Thursdays at 3pm throughout the school year. In this club we learn about our own health and wellbeing as well as joining in with some fun physical activity games.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning club meets on a Wednesday with Miss Potter and Mrs Hussain (Spring term). In this club we explore the outdoors through team building, activities and games. This includes planting seeds, creating pictures from outdoor objects and bark rubbings. We love learning outside!

Cooking Club

Cooking Club meets on a Tuesday with Miss Thompson and Mrs Rycroft. In this club we have learnt to plan, prepare and cook with fresh ingredients. We look at reading and following recipes, measuring ingredients, food safety and the importance of good hygiene. This half term we have enjoyed making pizzas and designing and making our own smoothies!

Geography and Art Club

Geography and Art Club meet on a Monday with Mrs Aldridge and Mrs Wilson. Every week we learn about a different country and complete some art challenges that link to it. Look at the pictures to see our amazing art work! Can you guess the countries that we have looked at?
